As temps heat up, one of the most anticipated desert summer events kicks off Memorial Day Weekend in Rancho Mirage.

Opening Friday night (May 24), Agua Caliente Casino Resort & Spa in partnership with FM radio station KKUU (U 92.7)  presents “Caliente Pool Party”, a poolside extravaganza that transforms the resort pool deck into an oasis nightclub.

Bringing the club vibe outside, the resort sets the scene with an elevated stage, strobe lights, hip music and misted rental cabanas.

“A pool party circus complete with pool toys and hot girls in bikinis,” described Burton Gray, marketing services manager for Agua Caliente.

Now entering its fourth year, the wet and wild Caliente Pool Party has gained a reputation as the place to be for Friday summer night fun. According to Gray, “People look forward to this event. With dancing, cocktails, and black jack by the pool, they can let go, have and a fun, wild time.”

Much more than a place to be seen, the event attracts a “strange melting pot of communities and people coming together,” Gray said.  “You have locals, people driving in from the OC (Orange County), ladies in Gucci stilettos, and Europeans on vacation…it’s a great place for people watching.”

Gray estimated last year’s season finale drew nearly 1,500 people.

To further entice the curious, the resort hosts weekly bikini contests where contestants can win cash prizes and gain entry into the “Finals”.  Each week, three lucky winners will qualify for the “Final Bikini Contest” on Aug. 30, where they will strut their stuff for the first place cash prize of $2500. Contestants may register online or at the door.

The Caliente Pool Party starts at 9 p.m. with a $10 cover charge and runs until 1 a.m. Get your suit on and join U-92.7 with DJ’s Brooke and Bianca for a variety of music and activity including surprise themes, Beer Pong,  and drink specials.

All guests and contestants must be at least 21 years of age or older.
