The statistics in this country are staggering: One in 50 children will be diagnosed with autism in his or her life.

For families, the rigors of day-to-day life can be especially challenging with autism casting its shadow. But for the children involved, every sacrifice has an even bigger reward.

That’s why the Concert for Autism at The Hood Bar and Pizza (74360 Hwy 111, Palm Desert. 760-636-5220) is such an important event. The Agents, Blasting Echo, Waxy, Johnny Elsewhere, and more will perform to benefit the children and families who fight this neurological disorder.

Several of the bands performing have children of their own who have been diagnosed with autism, so the concert will be played with a lot of heart.

The show is for all ages and open to the public Saturday, May 11. The price of admission is $10 at the door. Doors open at 5 p.m. for the outdoor show; performances go on until 10 p.m. Adults, stay late and enjoy performances and dancing until closing time.
