Explore Palm Springs: Memorial Day

Gold Star Families will be given special recognition for the first time

American Legion Owen Coffman Post 519 has historically honored local servicemen and women who were killed in action. This year they will honor 27 local residents from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan.

The American Legion’s Fallen Heroes Display will be presented on Memorial Day, May 25, starting at 1 p.m.

In addition to the traditional flower drop from a B-25 bomber above the Palm Springs Air Museum, and for the first time as part of the Memorial Day celebrations, the families, that is Gold Star Families, will be singled out for special honors. At this time, they will have seven Gold Star families of Palm Springs heroes represented.
