Day and Night Tripping

In addition to seeing a variety of cacti, birds, and animals that can be found in the local and nearby deserts, The Living Desert plays home to many creatures who typically reside in African deserts, including giraffes, ostriches, gazelles, zebras, camels, cheetahs, and hyenas.

This month, the park hosts special events: Jazz with Roger Neumann (Nov. 15) and a preview of educational trips it offers (Nov. 18).
Also, opening this month is the annual holiday celebration that brings visitors to the park at night; WildLights runs Nov. 28-Jan. 2, 2010. 47900 Portola Ave., Palm Desert. 1-760-346-5694.
