SpaTerre the exotic retreat at the newly modernized Riviera Resort & Spa in Palm Springs was named a ³Favorite New U.S. Spa² by SPA magazine in its annual Silver Sage Readers¹ Choice Awards issue.
An integral part of the resort¹s recent $70 million modernization project, the Riviera¹s acclaimed Asian-inspired SpaTerre a 12,000-square-foot retreat with a mix of cross-cultural and global treatments was ranked third among five favorite recently opened U.S. spas, which also included The Spa at Encore, Las Vegas; The Spa at Pelican Hill, Newport Coast, CA; The Spa at Trump, Las Vegas; and Spa Aquazul, San Diego.
More than 100,000 votes were cast this year for the magazine¹s third annual Readers¹ Choice Awards. The results are highlighted in the November/December 2009 issue of SPA, which recognizes the top five favorites in each of 27 categories, including: Affordable Spa, Destination Spa, Eco/Green Spa, Spa for Couples, Spa for Cuisine and Resort or Hotel Spa in Continental U.S., Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, Asia, and Hawaii and the South Pacific.
