St. Theresa School is proud to announce that Macy’s will be joining in for the 50th Golden Jubilee Holiday Fashion Gala on December 3rd.   The corporate giant’s Palm Desert store is providing the clothing in the spotlight of the children’s portion of the established runway extravaganza. More than fifty St. Theresa School children are expected to be decked out in Macy’s holiday fashions while modeling, singing or performing on the runway.

“It’s a win-win,“ says Lynn Mallotto, chairwoman of the event.  “Macy’s involvement is creating an excitement and buzz about the show.  It’s a wonderful chance for parents to see the adorable Macy’s children's fashions available for upcoming holiday events and celebrations.  That will translate into sales for the store.  And Macy’s banner support of our Fashion Gala will translate into more promotional opportunities for the school’s biggest fundraiser of the year.”

Macy’s is also bringing shopping opportunities to the event.  The retailer is extending its “Friends and Family” shopping offer for all participants and attendees at the Fashion Show. There will be a Macy's “Personal Shopping Experience” available as a Live Auction item at the event as well.

“At Macy’s, we firmly believe in giving back to the communities we serve,” said Kelly Fernandez, Palm Desert Store Manager.  “Whether it’s our national programs like our ‘Believe’ program which benefits Make-A-Wish, or local community involvement like the St. Theresa School fashion Gala, we know that our customers and associates like us to be an active community partner.  We are thrilled to participate with St. Theresa School and their Golden Jubilee Holiday Fashion Gala, and we thank the school for all they do for the families of the Coachella Valley.”

St. Theresa School’s Holiday Fashion Show has been a traditional kickoff to the Valley's seasonal social calendar.  The shows began half a century ago with clothing rescued from the rummage room of the school, modeled by the children in the old army barracks that once housed the school.  As the shows evolved, they included top fashion designers and performances by greats such as trumpeter Louis Prima and saxophonist Sam Butera as well as runway models the likes of Alana Hamilton.

“Many notable community members and businesses come forward to help us raise money for scholarships and other educational needs at our fashion show,” said Principal Cheryl Corey. “We are proud of our 50 year tradition and are thrilled that Macy’s will be a partner this year.”

This year's Golden Jubilee Fashion Show will be held at the Palm Springs Riviera Resort and Spa on December 3rd. The event includes live and silent auctions, a luncheon and a runway show highlighting clothing from Macy's, Lourdes Chavez and furs from Edwards-Lowell of Beverly Hills. Proceeds will go toward the school's scholarship and educational fund.
