The hustle and bustle of the holiday season kicks off the long Thanksgiving weekend.

Food, family, football, and shopping may be on the schedule, but preparing for the main event (and the daunting task of cleaning up) can stress out even the most organized planners.

If you’re looking for something out of the ordinary, Johannes offers Thanksgiving selections with an infusion of international flavor. Savor traditional dishes with a hint of Austrian influence, such as the turkey tenderloin Wiener schnitzel, as well as a choice of homemade house desserts, including an artfully prepared pear cranberry strudel. Join Trio Restaurant for a traditional three-course Thanksgiving turkey dinner with classics including maple-roasted acorn squash, sour cream mashed potatoes, and house-made cranberry sauce. Celebrate the holiday with French-Californian cuisine at the elegant Wally’s Desert Turtle. Roasted Atlantic striped bass, heirloom carrot soup, and Mary’s farm turkey rôtie entière are just a few sumptuous dishes on the prix fixe menu to be thankful for. Not feeling like dressing for a crowd? Take advantage of the IW Club 2013 Thanksgiving Dinners To-Go menu. Place complete dinner orders by Nov. 18 for pickup by appointment on Thanksgiving Day. Although closed Thanksgiving Day, these three local restaurants encourage you to let them cook for you Thanksgiving Eve, Black Friday, and over the holiday weekend.

Executive Chef Drew Davis, owner of Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine, offers a special cauliflower and queso de cabrales soup, made with crispy pancetta and white truffle oil, Friday and Saturday night. Jackalope Ranch Executive Chef Diana Davey will feature a delicious seasonal, fresh, made-to-order three-course prix fixe Thanksgiving weekend menu. The Jackalope Ranch slow-roasted 12-ounce prime rib, usually reserved for Sundays only, will be served Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday, with mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, and bacon.
