Ruth's Chris Steak House is a Palm Desert favorite among locals and visitors, winning several awards, including Best Steak House in the Desert for nine consecutive years. Originally founded in 1965 in New Orleans by Ruth Fertel — known as “The Empress of Steaks,” Ruth’s Chris Steak House carries an impressive history of outstanding food and service, as well as a legacy of community involvement.
“Our restaurant carries on Ruth Fertel’s vision,” says General Manager Jacob Higgins. “Great service and ambiance honors her legacy as the first woman to found an American steakhouse.”
That legacy includes being the only upscale restaurant in New Orleans with an all-female wait staff for many years.
At Ruth’s Chris in Palm Desert, a modern Art Deco design features burled wood posts that gently anchor arched enclaves for private tables. Centering the main dining room are a trio of comfortable banquettes under a sky-blue atrium. A large private dining room seating up to 99 patrons, and two smaller rooms, offer space for important business meetings, a gathering of friends or a romantic dinner for two.
