Volunteers are being sought to work the phones for the 19th annual ‘Care for Kids’ Radiothon to benefit Variety the Children’s Charity of the Desert on Nov. 11-12.
Proceeds from the Radiothon will provide brand new bikes and helmets for 300 fourth grade students from throughout the Coachella Valley.
During the Radiothon, the public are encouraged to call in to KPLM Big 106 FM from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days at 760-340-1061 or to Variety of the Desert at 760-773-9800 to pledge their donations.
The ‘Bikes for Kids’ Program works with Coachella Valley schools, which nominate and select students based on their need as well as their demonstration of good citizenship, exceptional effort, sportsmanship and respect for self, family, teachers and community. The bikes will be awarded at a date to be determined in December 2014.
