PALM DESERT VISITORS CENTER
The Palm Desert Visitors Center hosts a reception on Oct. 26 (5:30-7 p.m.) for a local mother and son known for their creative vision. Painter Elizabeth Stephenson renders large-scale vistas in small pastels on sandpaper. Fine art photographer Mark Stephenson does the opposite — taking close-up images of nature and printing over gold metallic acrylic grounds on large canvas. The pair also will show
collaborative pieces in which Mark scans Elizabeth’s small works and prints them on a much larger canvas. Beloved Desert: Golden Oasis and Desert Sandscapes runs through Nov. 29. 72567 Hwy. 111, Palm Desert. (760) 568-5240.
