The City of Rancho Mirage Public Library will present Food and Film at the Library on Wednesday evenings in October from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The event is sponsored by The Friends of the Rancho Mirage Public Library.

The Wednesday evening programs will feature films that are focused on food and the role that it plays in our cultures, lives, and loves. In addition to the films, there will be a discussion and trivia session led by Jason Bruecks, General Manager of the Camelot Theatres. Free refreshments will be served.

The following films will be featured:

October 14: The Big Night (1996)  Winner of the 1996 Sundance Festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award and nominated for the 1997 Critic’s Choice Award for Best Picture, this small-budget, bittersweet comedy depicts two brothers trying to save their failing Italian restaurant through one special night. This film is recommended for mature audiences only.

October 21: Eat Drink Man Woman (1994) Director Ang Lee brings you a film which explores the conflicts and desires of a Taiwanese chef and his spirited daughters as they gather for their strained Sunday dinners. Food is a metaphor for love—but it’s also to be savored and shared in this bighearted comedy!

October 28: Ratatouille (2007) Academy Award®-winning director Brad Bird
(“The Incredibles”) and the amazing storytellers at Pixar Animation Studios
(“Cars,” “Finding  Nemo”) take you into an entirely new and original world where the
unthinkable combination of a rat and a 5-star gourmet restaurant come  together for
the ultimate fish-out-of-water tale.
