Tommy Bahama Restaurant, Bar and Store has been a cornerstone of El Paseo Drive since opening in October 1998. Now the popular Palm Desert oasis with island-inspired food and spirits is getting a refreshing new look. Known for a relaxed, casual attitude, Tommy Bahama offers the perfect ‘getaway’ for locals as well as tourists looking to escape the day-to-day grind. With the renovation of the El Paseo location, that feeling of complete relaxation will be further enhanced to encourage socializing among friends and family.
The Tommy Bahama restaurant will close on Oct. 19 to begin its transformation and will reopen on Nov. 8. The popular outside patio at will be reopened on Nov. 21. Meanwhile the Tommy Bahama retail store, which was remodeled this summer, will remain open for business during the restaurant’s renovation.
The changes in the restaurant are more than simply esthetic; the remodel is designed to create a lively, engaging social setting for the ever-changing population of the Coachella Valley. The outdoor patio will feature gathering spots augmented by island-style furnishings with comfortable soft seating that will encourage guests to relax and enjoy. Inside the restaurant, the bar will be expanded and moved to the center of the restaurant, while a private dining room will take the space formerly occupied by the bar. “The Coachella Valley has a dynamic, social demographic that we have targeted with our renovation,” says Michael Shimer, Senior General Manager of Tommy Bahama Palm Desert. “We know they’ll enjoy our new look.”
In the store, the original island heritage look of the brand has been transformed into a bright, airy, plantation, style design. Soothing shades of white and grass cloth wall coverings create a clean canvas from which the rich color palettes of the brand’s sportswear, swimwear, accessories and home décor collections stand out in vibrant contrast. That same peaceful feeling and use of natural materials will carry over into the restaurant. “The Tommy Bahama brand isn’t static: it has grown and evolved, while staying true to our commitment to maintain our casual, relaxed attitude,” explains Rob Goldberg, Senior Vice President of Marketing for Tommy Bahama. “The restaurant and store renovations reflect that growth, as well as the staying power of the brand.”
The tastes, scents and sights of the islands are closer than you think. With the renovation of Tommy Bahama Restaurant & Bar in Palm Desert, guests will enjoy a premier island experience… no passport required!
