Golf is a game of bounces, inches, distances, and other digit-worthy measurements. The numbers here represent assorted statistics from five of the Coachella Valley’s favorite courses.

89 Bunkers drawn across the grounds at Marriott’s Shadow Ridge Golf Resort in Palm Desert. The first American course design from six-time major winner Nick Faldo presents an Australian Sandbelt-inspired landscape that’s certain to test the sand game for tee shots gone askew and approaches fired off-line.

7,578 Yards of play from the back silver tees at SilverRock Resort in La Quinta, making it the longest layout in the Coachella Valley. A course rating of 76.3 and slope of 139 give players a challenge of four par 5s that play at least 570 yards each and five par 4s that bite off a minimum of 470 yards.

90 Holes of golf available for pubic play at PGA West and La Quinta Resort & Club, including courses designed by Pete Dye, Jack Nicklaus, and Greg Norman. One other number to consider: Dye’s TPC Stadium Course charts 29th in Golf Digest’s “Best in State” rankings for all California courses.

1st Example of LPGA Hall of Famer Amy Alcott’s course-design consulting work at Indian Canyons Golf Resort South Course. She collaborated with architect Casey O’Callaghan on the course’s makeover in 2004.

1997 The year Desert Willow Golf Resort appeared on the cover of Smithsonian magazine, the first golf courses to do so, in recognition of the Firecliff and Mountain View courses’ environmentally sound design that offers a mix of playability and sustainability.
