On a magical moonlit night, the mystique of Morocco enchanted all who attended Palm Springs Modern Committee’s Annual Gala benefit, held at the magnificent Bougain Villa estate situated on a hillside perch overlooking the shimmering city lights of Palm Springs. The luxurious residence was the venue for “A Night at the Casbah,” generously hosted by homeowners Dorothy and Harold Meyerman.

The interior of the Bougain Villa, a midcentury modern Moroccan oasis built from an early plan by Hugh Kaptur and  redesigned by Albert Frey, was lit from within, providing superb views of the interior of the glorious glass and mirrored pavilion.

Moroccan entertainment  music, belly dancing, fire eating and snake charming transformed the balmy, star lit evening into an unforgettable experience for hundreds of modernists, friends of preservation, and supporters of PS ModCom.  Guests were treated to a lavish Moroccan menu provided by Westwood Catering, complemented by a signature citrus cocktail — the Casbah Cooler — created and underwritten by Crater Lake Vodka, and sparkling wines donated by PMDL Wine Company.
