Ruth's Chris Steak House is a Palm Desert favorite among locals and visitors, winning several awards, including Best Steak House in the Desert for nine consecutive years. Originally founded in 1965 in New Orleans by Ruth Fertel — known as “The Empress of Steaks,” Ruth’s Chris Steak House carries an impressive history of outstanding food and service, as well as a legacy of community involvement.
“Our restaurant carries on Ruth Fertel’s vision,” says General Manager Jacob Higgins. “Great service and ambiance honors her legacy as the first woman to found an American steakhouse.”
That legacy includes being the only upscale restaurant in New Orleans with an all-female waitstaff for many years.
At Ruth’s Chris in Palm Desert, a modern art deco design features burled wood posts that gently anchor arched enclaves for private tables. Centering the main dining room are a trio of comfortable banquettes under a sky-blue atrium. A large private dining room seating up to 99 patrons, and two smaller rooms, offer space for important business meetings, a gathering of friends, or a romantic dinner for two.
Ruth’s Chris Steak House serves the finest USDA certified prime beef, broiled at 1,800 degrees and served on 500-degree plates, so steaks stay hot, juicy, and delicious. New Orleans - inspired appetizers, USDA certified prime steaks, fresh seafood, signature side dishes, and homemade desserts are all part of the Ruth’s Chris experience, served with genuine hospitality.
As New Orleans is one of America’s most important original cocktail cities, Ruth’s Chris takes pride in serving handcrafted vintage cocktails with a modern twist, as well as new classics. To celebrate this new direction, patrons can enjoy five-course dinners paired with cocktails every two or three months. In addition, Palm Desert is planning to host either a wine or a cocktail dinner every month.
Dinner is served nightly from 5 p.m. Reservations are suggested, and private dining and offsite catering may be arranged.
