Locals Love TRIO Year-Round

By Ellen Paris

TRIO, “Where Palm Springs eats and drinks,” located in a historic mid-century building in Palm Spring’s sophisticated Uptown Design District, is lively and upbeat year-round. Even in summer the high energy happens seven days a week. Locals (TRIO “regulars”) love its varied menu combining traditional comfort foods with a contemporary edge, like Yankee pot roast, crawfish pot pie and skirt steak. TRIO’s décor matches the mood — vibrant splashes of color, and creative lighting.

TRIO opened in 2009 and has garnered recognition as one of Palm Spring’s top restaurants and hot spots by numerous lifestyle and travel publications and websites, including Elle Décor Italia and Tripadvisor. com. “We love to see visitors discover TRIO. Yet we are a very local-driven restaurant where the locals like to hang out,” observes Tony Marchese, co-owner of TRIO with Mark Van Laanen, executive chef. “The key to our popularity is our food is consistent, we are priced well, servers are friendly and knowledgeable, and there is a welcoming energy in the room,” Marchese adds.

TRIO’s three-course prix fixe menu, is served from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Cocktail hour in the bar and patio from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. offers $3 wine, well drinks, and domestic beer and $5 martinis, margaritas, and mojitos. Lunch begins at 11 a.m.

TRIO draws a diverse crowd all day long. In season, the 140-seat eatery is often filled with the “ladies who lunch” country club set who feel TRIO is worth the drive from other valley cities. “I love eating here. It makes me feel young,” says one Rancho Mirage woman. Evenings draw groups of young women and men, as well as couples and small and large groups. Every day at TRIO feels like a party with great food and just the right mix of people. Tony and Mark wouldn’t have it any other way.

TRIO also offers food for pickup or delivery. Visit www.triotogo.com.
