2010 Discovery Home Tour – Diaz Residence

Designer: Jeffrey Jones

This 6,500-square-foot residence was conceived by designer Jeffrey Jones from the ground up. The structure’s contemporary lines converge to create a series of triangles, circles, and squares.

Soaring 18-foot rooflines with wood-clad underside angle their way toward the sky, while clerestory windows seemingly disappear into the structure. Decorative light fixtures play a predominate role in setting the ambiance. Design features include a circular master bath with his-and-hers showers hidden behind a round bathtub. Overhead, a 36-foot glass skylight is angled at 20 degrees.

Radius planters and steppingstones lead guests through the yard. Reglet detailing in the stucco complements the “pick-up-sticks” design on the overhang above the circular driveway. On the pool bottom is a depiction of a Matisse painting created by Left Coast Pool Concepts Inc. of Palm Desert.

Twenty-nine pieces of custom furniture were designed for this project — all locally manufactured. An elaborate lighting system throughout enhances the colorful palette carried throughout the interior and exterior.
