Premier Courses — Desert Willow Golf Resort

Voted one of the Best Places to Play by Golf Digest

Desert Willow Golf Resort is the crown jewel of golfing opportunities in Palm Desert — perhaps the entire desert southwest. In addition to exceptional golf, guests are offered a private club experience with a magnificent clubhouse, personalized service, and spectacular views.

Creations of nationally recognized designers Michael Hurdzan, Ph.D.; Dana Frye; and PGA Touring Professional John Cook, the Firecliff and Mountain View courses offer a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels.

Desert Willow was recognized by the prestigious Smithsonian magazine with the honor of a cover photograph and lauded for its environmentally sensitive design. The integration of design with native plant landscaping, the finest turf, the use of recycled water, and original artworks is the distinctive difference giving cause for such acclaimed attention. This unique combination also attracted the attention of National Geographic Magazine. Recent awards include Golf Digest “Best Places to Play — 41/2 Stars”; LA Times “Southern California Top Ten Places to Play; and Palm Springs Life “Best Public Course.”

Desert Willow has emerged as the favorite place to play for many. This tournament-tested layout is one of only three courses in California and one of the best 50 in the United States to receive this distinction in terms of conditioning. Firecliff, measuring 7,056 yards, is a true test of skill where golfers must negotiate their way around natural desert areas, over 100 bunkers, and numerous water features. It has attracted tournaments such as the Frank Sinatra Countrywide Celebrity Invitational, Lexus Southern California Team Championship, Sectional PGA Championships, Pepsi Tour events, and Golden State Tour events.

Mountain View was designed as a resort course with wider fairways and limited desert waste areas. But don’t be deceived. Mountain View, measuring 6,913 yards, is rated just slightly less difficult than Firecliff. With more forgiving fairways, 98 well-placed bunkers, sloping greens, and seven water features, Mountain View still requires golfers to be at their best.

GPS-equipped golf carts provide accurate yardage information, helping maintain the pace of play.

The clubhouse features a golf shop, locker room facilities, and picturesque dining areas. Desert Willow is a favorite place for private tournaments, meetings, banquets, and special events of all types — especially weddings.

One of the newest and most progressive golf instruction facilities in the area, THE PALM DESERT GOLF ACADEMY offers comprehensive programs for golfers of all skill levels. Focusing on technique and course management, instructors analyze students’ ability and design lessons to enhance technical and psychological aspects of their game. Video and computer analysis, on-course evaluations, and innovative training aids are utilized to achieve results.
