Dr. Farhad Limonadi’s tenet in life is to “follow the code of good thoughts, good words, and good deeds. Think positively, talk positively, and do positively.”

Limonadi and his wife moved to the Coachella Valley after Dr. Shahin Etebar invited him to join the Desert Spine and Neurosurgical Institute.

“I came with my wife and two kids,” Limonadi says. “We loved the neurosurgery team, and the hospital was willing to acquire the equipment we needed for complex brain and spine operations.”

The doctor’s background influenced his decision to pursue medicine. “My grandfather was a general surgeon; my mom, a nurse, and my uncle, an orthopedic surgeon,” says Limonadi, who attended UCLA with his wife when they were undergrads. “My passion and excitement was in science, and I was an electrical engineer before. The reason I chose neurosurgery was that I came to a realization that the most complex entity in this universe is the human brain,” and neurosurgery merged his interests with his desire to help people and save lives.

Limonadi went to medical school at Dartmouth and completed his residency in Oregon.

“My major passion aside from my family is my practice, and I’ve tried to do the best I can to save my patients from the darkness of illness and disease,” he says. “Next to that, I’m quite passionate and thoughtful about what is happening to the next generation, to do what I can in my limited capacity to bring awareness to the threats they’re facing, one of which is drug use.

“I volunteer my time and go to high schools with two Superior Court judges,” he continues. “We try to bring awareness to these young adults and tell them what marijuana and other drugs do to their brain and to their life.”

He also counsels them on alcohol use and bullying.
