PSST - From Rooms to Runway

Scarlett O’Hara famously made a gown from drapes in Gone With the Wind. Coachella Valley interior designers will set about making their own fashion statements in a similar vein for a Fashion Week El Paseo fundraiser/competition organized by the Palm Springs/Inland Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.
Forty participants are creating apparel from the tools of their trade — upholstery fabrics, lampshades, tiles, etc. — in categories of architectural style periods. The results will be shown on the runway on March 24, ending with a live auction of the outfits.
In November, the local ASID chapter held its inaugural Interior Design Project Awards, judged by the Florida South Chapter. Local winners included Christopher Kennedy Interior Design, Jeffrey Jurasky & Associates, Swanson Interior Design Group, Wright Design Group, Louise M. Neyer Interiors, and Designs by Tricia Walter.
