If the next best thing to partaking in something you’re passionate about is reading about it, then Peggy Meyer calls it as she sees it: “heaven.”
The Palm Springs resident uses the word to describe a wine book club organized by Wild for the Vine and the Palm Springs Public Library. At its first meeting in January, Meyer sipped a Layer Cake cabernet while discussing Peter Mayle’s A Good Year, about a man who inherits a vineyard in France.
Mae Bolda of Palm Springs has attended book club discussions at the library, but said she was more comfortable at Wild for the Vine, the wine book club’s venue. “I feel more adult [here],” she noted.
The group meets at 6:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month at the store on Palm Canyon Drive. To find out what books will be discussed, www.palmspringslibrary.org, or call (760) 323-8294. To reserve a place at the next meeting, call (760) 325-9930.
