Visiting Frasca Jewelers in its new location (73560 El Paseo, Palm Desert) a block west of its fire-damaged boutique, we were hardly surprised to find owner Maria Wahl wide-eyed and marveling at a finely detailed Buccellati Eliochron watch — every bit of it hand-engraved in 18K gold. Accompanied in the display case with signature pieces from the Milan design house, the watch reflects the same craftsmanship that founder Mario Buccellati exerted in 1919, when he opened his first store near La Scala opera house.
“They’re extraordinary,” Wahl beams, noting that Buccellati appeals mostly to women who want a traditional and feminine look — an exclusive piece that they won’t see all around town. The eye-catching watch and signature bracelets and rings are the epitome of high art: distinctive, elegant, and befitting of the desert’s most discerning collectors.
