Jet-setting to the desert from Italy, British heiress Patricia Gucci heard about a one-bedroom casita with a 23-acre front yard in the hills above Palm Desert. She bought the Mountain Center property in 1993 and transformed it into an 11,000-square-foot, 10-bedroom/10-bathroom main house with guesthouses, a movie theater, spas, a tennis court, hiking trails, and a large kennel. She lived in it full time, sent her kids to school in Rancho Mirage, lunched on El Paseo, and escaped the fast life. But like every fairy tale, it’s time for a happy ending. Gucci, the 50-year-old granddaughter of House of Gucci founder Guccio Gucci, has listed the estate for $9 million through Richard Bartholomew at Partners Trust Real Estate Brokerage & Acquisitions.
