Varicose veins are common, affecting 50 percent of women and 20 percent of men in the United States. Spider veins, unsightly facial capillaries, and large varicose veins represent damaged veins with leaking internal valves. Left untreated, varicose and spider veins progressively worsen, compounding the problems and the necessary treatments, and potentially leading to swelling, discoloration, cramping, pain, and ulcerations in the legs and feet.
