Some of us want to turn back time. Others want to look and feel healthier. In our quest to be our best, nearly all of us have considered how differently we’d feel if only we could enhance our looks or fix a nagging problem.
But where to go to find a top doc in a top facility? A quick scan of the list of the “Top 100 Cosmetic Surgeons in the World” by the International Academy of Cosmetic Surgery yields one name (and only one name) very well known in the desert: David Morrow, M.D., F.A.A.D., F.A.A.C.S., founder and director of The Morrow Institute Medical Group, Inc., the nation’s first Specialty Plastic Surgery® team.
Top 100 Cosmetic Surgeons in the World
Dr. Morrow’s recent honor recognizes his significant achievements in improving patients’ outcomes. Unsatisfied with less than natural-looking results, he pioneered several techniques now performed worldwide. More than 10 years ago, he performed the first laser facelift. Constantly innovating, he has also developed the Designed Skin Peel®, Triangle Lift®, Diamond Lift®, Contiguous Eyelid Surgery and most recently, the Stork Lift™.
This spring, Dr. Morrow’s article on the Stork Lift™ co-authored by The Morrow Institute’s Dr. Harry Marshak, was selected for inclusion in the prestigious collection Year Book of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery. The book features contemporary articles gleaned from more than 500 journals worldwide to summarize the year’s most important breakthroughs in plastic and aesthetic surgery. This is Dr. Morrow’s third inclusion in the Year Book series.
Specialty Plastic Surgeons®
Dr. Morrow believes in cultivating talent. He heads a much-sought-after American Board of Cosmetic Surgery Fellowship Program. He also utilizes the team approach to achieve optimal results for his patients.
Since founding The Morrow Institute in 1988, Dr. Morrow has carefully assembled a multitalented group of board certified specialists in dermatology, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, ophthalmology, and plastic surgery. His care in choosing his team of Specialty Surgeons and Specialty Plastic Surgeons® pays dividends for his patients, who come from all corners of the globe. They are assured treatment by specialists from their heads to their toes. Morrow Institute surgeons spend nearly 40 percent of their time repairing undesirable results created by other surgeons.
Harry Marshak, M.D., F.A.C.S., the desert’s only full-time ophthalmic plastic surgeon, is a fellow of the prestigious and elite American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. His extensive training and experience in repairing eyelid damage has earned him widespread professional recognition and the love of his patients, who call him “Dr. Gentle.” Dr. Marshak performs the full range of eyelid plastic and reconstructive surgery as well as facial cosmetic surgery.
Stephen Pincus, M.D., F.A.C.S., a board certified otolaryngologist and facial plastic and reconstructive surgeon is considered one of the top nasal surgeons in the United States. Like all Morrow Institute surgeons, he combines surgical skill and aesthetics to restore and enhance function as well as beauty.
Marc Mani, M.D., F.A.C.S., an exceptionally talented boardcertified plastic surgeon, was featured on the Discovery Health Channel’s Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills. He performs breast and body surgery, including breast augmentation, reduction, lifting and reconstruction, breast implant replacement, and tummy tucks, as well as lifts of the arms, buttocks, thighs and full body.
Rounding out the team is Allan Wu, M.D., a certified tissue bank specialist, diplomate of the American Board of Phlebology, and member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, who performs cosmetic and reconstructive gynecological surgery. Dr. Wu’s expertise ranges from the advanced treatment of veins to reversing the uncomfortable and undesirable consequences of childbirth, such as incontinence, stretching, C-section scarring, and painful intercourse. He is also a respected researcher.
Elective and Insurance Covered Services
While most patients think of The Morrow Institute for cosmetic and elective surgery, the team also provides surgical care for hernias, nasal breathing problems, tearing and dry eyes, heavy menstrual bleeding, incontinence and other conditions. When medically indicated, these procedures may be covered by private insurance.
Spa-like Desert Campus
The Morrow Institute is more than a collection of top docs. It’s a Specialty Surgery practice where art and science, technology, and innovation come together in a premier A.A.A.H.C./Medicare accredited, 7,000-square-foot facility.
The spa-like setting in Rancho Mirage includes serene consultation areas, skin treatment rooms, two spacious operating rooms, a monitored recovery room and luxurious accommodations for overnight stays.
Stem Cell Research Lab Seeks Organic Solutions
His considerable achievements notwithstanding, Dr. Morrow’s future contributions to the science of aesthetic plastic surgery may be on the near horizon. In 2008, he and Dr. Wu co-founded the desert’s only noncontroversial Stem Cell Research Lab at The Morrow Institute. The lab’s grant-supported work focuses on adipose (fat) derived stem cells. These miraculous cells have been shown to have the same healing and regenerative properties as embryonic and bone marrow stem cells, but don’t require the use of embryos or invasive surgery.
“Our work may allow individuals to store their own stem cells to aid healing or regenerate vital organs and tissue,” Dr. Morrow says. “In addition to enhancing appearance, the cells may someday cure diseases such as arthritis, diabetes, and heart disease. The potential for improving our patients’ lives makes our efforts enormously rewarding.”
