Modern Man
Donald Wexler, an icon in Palm Springs’ midcentury modern architecture
Donald Wexler, an icon in Palm Springs’ midcentury modern architecture, has embraced Spanish architecture for his own new residence. At the age of 85, he became the 100th resident at the Segovia retirement community in Palm Desert.
“It was the programs for individual care that initially attracted me, and everyone is friendly and nice here,” he says.
Segovia, which opened in May 2010 and offers independent and assisted living, features an array of amenities (including a restaurant, lounge, and lanai with barbecue), an active social calendar, and concierge services. “I will use the gym, pool, and sauna as much as possible,” Wexler says, “and I want to take up bridge again.”
