For a restaurant to succeed it must be distinctive enough to bring customer’s through the doors for the first time and good enough to keep them coming back again and again. Wasabi has a devoted local clientele. It has become one of the favorite restaurants for locals and visitors in Palm Springs

Traditional Japanese cuisine is known for its emphasis on the seasonality of food, the quality of ingredients, and the presentation. Wasabi maintains these high standards of traditional Japanese cuisine authenticity, guaranteed to satisfy all Japanese food lovers.

The presentation of each selection is simply elegant and traditional. The portions are incredible. The fish is firm to the touch. The taste is perfectly balanced with a sweetness from the ginger and the spice of wasabi, creating a meal that appeals to a very dedicated and diverse clientele. The cucumber and spinach salads are made to order with homemade dressing using the freshest ginger.

Mimi and Hiro are the owners of Wasabi. Chef Hiro was trained in Japan in the traditional ways of preparing Japanese cuisine.

He selects only the freshest seafood and this makes the sushi and sashimi the best you can find in the desert. Their wine list features hot and cold Sake and imported Japanese beer, which, when paired with sushi, is the perfect combination of pure refreshment.

“In Japan, we concentrate on cleanliness and freshness. These were the principles we were taught. I was only allowed to clean the cutting and cooking surfaces for the first six months of my three-year training. I also have mastered skills beyond my expectations within 25 years’ experience,” says Hiro. There is a wonderful wall hanging in the restaurant with the saying, “Watch, touch, and bite,” that stands for presentation of the dish, touching the fish for firmness, and then enjoying the taste.

Wasabi is committed to delivering the best possible quality of food and service. This is the only restaurant to consider if you want authentic Japanese food locally. Hours are: 5 to 7 p.m., 7 days per week. Enjoy their outdoor pet friendly patio.
