SMOOTH JAZZ / SOUL GUITARIST JOHN CAREY
Chicago native jazz guitarist “JOHN CAREY” is on the rise Because of his ability to captivate audiences nationwide with his unique guitar tricks and his sultry, soulful, jazzy, sound, many fans have compared him to the likes of guitar superstars, Norman Brown, Chuck Loeb, Larry Carlton, and George Benson. John has opened for many musical phenomenons such as Natalie Cole, George Benson, Earth Wind and Fire, Ledisi, Warren Hill, Queen Latifah, Brian Culbertson, Boney James, Mindi Abair, Norman Brown, Al Jarreau, Buddy Guy, Gerald Albright, Rose Royce and Other. John is currently working on his new funky smooth jazz CD " Smooth and Funky" that is due to be released March 1, 2012.
GINA CAREY , Unique and soulful is the only words to describe writer, composer, producer, play writer/director, performer & soul singer Gina Carey. Although many have compared her to Broadway's sensation & recording artist Stephanie Mills, she has her own sound and style that can easily be identified in all of her recordings.
** Wednesday Nights we are featuring the incredible vocals of Missoni Lanza 6:00pm-9:00pm
MISSONI LANZA, Missoni Lanza sings of love- lost, unrequited, enchanted and cursed. For most of her life, Missoni connected to the music, culture, literature, art, and fashion of days gone by more than she did with that of her own generation. When she was a baby, upon meeting her, a friend of her mother’s described her as ‘an old soul.’ If her surname sounds familiar, that is because the famous classical singer Mario Lanza is a distant relative.
Missoni studied piano, guitar, and classical vocal techniques. In her early teens, she formed an all girl group and later, joined the high school jazz band.
Although she has an impressive five-octave range, Missoni’s vocals are intimate, smoky and sultry. There are echoes of Norah Jones, Billie Holiday, Sarah Mclachlan, Fiona Apple, and Margo Timmins throughout.
She has performed at New York's legendary Bitter End, Red River Revel Music Festival (Shreveport), Joe Pass Jazz Festival (Sicily), Ojai Jazz Festival along with several other venues, and has opened for artists such as Kim Carnes, Rob Wasserman (Grateful Dead), Marc Broussard, Nicole Atkins & The Sea & more.
In 2012, Missoni's song, featured on her EP, AMORE (now available on iTunes), "I'll Always Be a Stranger," was selected as a semi-finalist in the Unsigned Only Songwriting Contest and the International Songwriting Contest in 2012.
Currently, Missoni is writing for her next upcoming album.
