Kristine Schultz has been an Interior Designer for 35 years. She is a professional member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) and certified in the state of California (CID). She opened her own design firm in the Coachella Valley in 1992 when her family purchased Patios Plus, and remains very hands on in both businesses.
Opening her own firm has allowed Kristine to select the projects that most interest her. She believes a designer’s responsibility is to create an interior that is aesthetically pleasing, yet fulfills its function flawlessly. The home should reflect the taste and needs of her client, while creating a comfortable, inviting, and easily maintained environment. Since the home should be a statement and reflection of her client, she considers all aspects while creating a warm and inviting interior that can function for both entertaining and living.
The home featured here was interesting, as it had a large dividing wall between the living room and dining room. By opening up the space and reworking the bar area the client has a space that now flows easily between the two and extends out to the exterior areas, great for large family gatherings and entertaining friends. Fabrics and surfaces were done for easy maintenance, and the neutral color palette allows a beautiful background for their art collection.
Simplicity in design, architectural details, and a warm minimalism has evolved over time and are signature elements of her work. Kristine also has an extensive background in designing custom furniture and cabinetry for her clients. “Beautiful woods inspire us to design furniture that is unique to each of our client’s homes,” she says. Kristine’s firm works in all aspects of design including remodeling and decorating existing homes, and full service from start to finish with new homes. Her commitment is to you and to making the design experience your own.
