College of the Desert's Palm Desert campus is the site of its own Street Fair from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through May..

Open Air Market
Just down the street from the Spa Casino in downtown Palm Springs, vendors gather every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through May.

More than 6,500 cheerleaders and dancers will compete at the Palm Springs Convention Center, Feb. 1-2, as part of the Spirit Sports Duel in the Desert Cheer and Dance National Championships.

Gavin MacLeod

The Rancho Mirage resident (at left) receives his rightful place in the Palm Springs Walk of Stars at 11 a.m. Feb. 1. Known for his starring roles in "The Love Boat" and "The Mary Tyler Moore Show", MacLeod just came out with his own biography, which he will sign at Just Fabulous at 2 p.m. the same day. "Civil Rights in America: Where Do We Stand Now?"

Charles Bibbs/Synthia Saint James will exhibit their work at the Palm Springs Art Museum starting Jan. 30 to celebrate Black History Month. The exhibit runs through February. A kick-off reception will be held at 6 p.m. Jan. 30 at the museum. Watch our VIDEO interview with Bibbs, who lives in Riverside.

Western Art Council
Jean C. Carrus, a three-time Western Art Council (WAC) chairman and major art collector, will participate in a Q&A about her personal connection to art at 5 p.m. Jan. 31 at the Palm Springs Art Museum, and the program's second half is dedicated to the WAC's 30th anniversary with a panel discussion.

Grand Opening
The Art Colony of Morongo Valley unveils its new art gallery and gift shop from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Feb. 1.

"Hair Spray"

Bruce Vilanch (at right) reprises his role as Edna Turnblad in the hit musical along with several Broadway veterans and students from the Musical Theatre University Jan. 31 to Feb. 2 at Rancho Mirage High School's Helene Galen Performing Arts Center. Performances are 8 p.m. each day.

"Les Miserables"
The Palm Canyon Theatre in Palm Springs continues its season with this classic through Feb. 9 with performances on Thursdays through Sundays, followed by "Confessions of a Prairie B*tch".

"A Perfect Ganesh"
CV Rep continues to set the tone with this Terrance McNally play about two middle-aged female friends who take a tour of India and what that trip holds in store for each. Runs Wednesdays through Sundays until Jan. 9 in Rancho Mirage.

"The Andrews Brothers"
Coyote StageWorks is producing this musical in conjunction with the Annenberg Theater featuring 25 songs originally made famous by The Andrews Sisters. Runs through Feb. 16.

"Nite Club Confidential"
Miss Joey English headlines this jazz musical about a 1950s nightclub singer who never once saw daylight. The music ties audiences from New York to Hollywood to Paris. Performances are Fridays through Sundays until Feb. 23.

"Invasion of Privacy"
Dezart Performs this award-winning play by Larry Parr based on a true story of a 1946 trial filed against author Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, who wrote "The Yearling". Performances are Fridays through Sundays until Feb. 9.

LIVE MUSIC
The Jan & Dean Show

Take a trip back to the 1960s surfer tunes and the music of the late Ricky Nelson, which is brought to life by his twin sons, Gunnar and Matthew Nelson (at left) Jan. 30 at McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.

The Bluebonnets
