Dan Hubbard is a thrill-seeker who likes an audience. And he usually has one.

Hubbard is a career BMX (bicycle motocross) rider, BMX team owner, and emcee for the Monster Energy (drink) BMX Team. He’s been racing since he was in grade school, not always with parental approval.

After his older brother, a motorcycle racer, was injured, Hubbard says his dad wanted to steer him to another kind of ride.

“My dad was a doctor and said, ‘No way,’” Hubbard recalls. “He bought me a BMX bike. I was hyper and that energy was put into something positive. When you work for six, seven months to train and learn, it’s a thrill to master a trick. And it’s awesome to watch.”

Hubbard has assembled a top-notch team of professional BMX riders, including X Games pro Larry Edgar and Monster Energy Recon Tour Champion Jeremy Malott, to perform daring freestyle stunts May 29 at the Monster Memorial Weekend at Spa Resort Casino in Palm Springs. The Monster-sponsored Memorial Weekend festival is a first-time event for the desert, part of Spa Resort Casino’s outdoor event series.

Monster Energy Recon Tour Champion Jeremy Malott will be part of the BMX stunt team performing in Palm Springs.
