Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands Welcomes Desert Arc and the First Tee Coachella Valley – May 6, 2014

Site Staff Social Scene

Desert Arc clients took to the links for a fun morning of golf with students from The First Tee Coachella Valley. This was the third consecutive year that the folks at The Annenberg Retreat at Sunnylands have welcomed them for this very special day.

Staff members from all three organizations commented on this being one of their favorite days of the year. The  day of golf began several years ago as a joint Desert Arc/First Tee event and was brought to Sunnylands in 2012 when The First Tee Coachella Valley asked if the famed Annenberg estate would be willing to work with the students on an eight-week program of learning through golf followed by a culminating event with Desert Arc.

The First Tee Coachella Valley pairs students with Desert Arc clients and the six-somes work on their golf skills while interacting for a day of very special fun. Following lunch, the students returned to the links for a golf event of their own.

Leonore Deshong, Sunnylands board member and granddaughter of Leonore Annenberg commented, “This is what my grandmother envisioned that the property be used for: to help people and government to make the world a better place.”
