This dramatic loft-like room features a combined living, dining, and kitchen space with incredible views of the San Jacinto Mountains.

It’s located in Escena Golf Club, a 130-lot community just east of the airport in Palm Springs. The three-bedroom, 2,600-square-foot home is called the “Panorama” and was completed in 2013 by architect Anthony Poon in collaboration with developer Andrew Adler of the Alta Verde Group.

Poon says his firm created an entirely new neighborhood of homes within Escena called This Century Modern.

“We delivered the first American modern tract in generations. Homes have sold out phase after phase, with over 50 homes purchased,” he says.

Poon worked on the Panorama project with his firm’s design principal, John Kim, and all of the furniture is from designer Scott Allen of Interior Illusions Design Studio in West Hollywood.

Living/dining: While a white-on-white palette may seem bold, Poon says that, “Our white-on-white approach creates a brightness and spaciousness through the abundance of natural light, as white materials, fabrics, and textures dramatically diffuse sunlight and house lights throughout all areas of the rooms. The vivid shadows and reflections on white surfaces change throughout the day, providing a luxurious experience that is like a work of art that you can live in. The white atmosphere provides a beautiful life-size canvas for the homeowner to inhabit and make their own.”

He adds that the brushed finish stainless steel and anodized aluminum elements make the house feel current and modern, as well as accentuate the clean contemporary lines.

“The contrasting wood adds warmth and intimacy to the overall material palette,” he says.

The wall of glass is 35 feet long and 10 feet tall. Two sets of sliders open to a total of 16 feet.

Sofa: Jones XL sofa, cream tweed fabric, other sizes/configurations available; Chairs: Lean Lounge Chair, white leather/polished stainless; custom shag rug, any size/color available; Ottomans: wool river rock ottomans

Dining area: Table: Tower dining table in walnut; Chairs: Hollywood dining chair, white leather/chrome; Rug: leather patchwork rug, natural/grey; Lighting: UFO LED Chandelier.

Kitchen: The kitchen cabinets are Italian laminate from Modulo Cucine. The island is clad in a faux-wood with a cross grain texture and the room’s counters are Silestone.

Refrigerator: Themador; double oven and cooktop: Bosch; faucet: Aqua Brass.

Vignette: These tall white planters are made of cast resin and are also available in black, as well as other sizes and patterns.

“The concept was to bring what is typically seen at your feet up to a higher level, so as to be appreciated at eye and body level,” says Poon. “There was also interest in playing with scale to provide whimsy and contrast — big planter with small plant.”
