They say good things come to those who wait.

Bill Dailey can relate to that.

He had been looking in the Snow Creek area for more than five years before finding the John Lautner inspired Snow Creek home in Whitewater, Calif., over a year ago.

Dailey was awestruck by the remoteness of the area with its beautiful starlit nights and wildlife. That coupled with his love of Lautner’s architectural design-style made this home and area a prefect fit.

The home was built by a local architect who had constructed the home from photographs of Lautner’s original 1951 design of the Bergren home in Los Angeles.

According to Dailey, very little work was needed – a little plaster work and paint was all it took to restore this iconic Lautner replica back to modern times.

The original kitchen attests to the vintage feel and style of that era. Dailey’s talent and flare for collecting is apparent throughout the home from classic reproduction pieces, of Greta Grossmen, and George Nelson, to originals by Knoll, Pine Craft and Hayward Wakefield.

In addition, Dailey has an impressive collection of vintage E. McKnight Kauffer travel posters that he proudly displays in his billiard room. He loves how the posters evoke a look of midcentury modern, while simultaneously creating a feel of world-wide travel.

Dailey’s decorating goal was to create a comfortable and relaxed home, which is clearly apparent when visiting.

You feel it as well from the warm soft glow coming from the home’s south facing window, which offers a majestic view of the San Jacinto Mountains.
