Presents Julio Susana — Santo Domingo’s “National Treasure” SPECIAL ADVERTISING SECTION Denise Robergé Gallery is pleased to present Santo Domingo’s national treasure — painter and sculptor, Julio Susana.
For Susana, the act of painting is one of communion. He approaches the canvas with reverence, with anointing, as if by doing so, he establishes links with secrets of a remote ancient past. Susana’s works are emotional and romantic. Born July 27, 1937 in La Vega Real, Dominican Republic, Susana’s talents were visible at an early age. While attending the Academia de Bellas Artes in Santo Domingo, he won awards in painting and sculpture. His artistic works would continue getting him noticed, earning him a scholarship to Spain’s renowned Instituto de Cultura Hispanica de Madrid. Classified as an outstanding figure of Dominican art and a successful artist for nearly five decades, Susana enjoys intertwining themes of nature and humanity. He’s known for his defined lines, geometric figures, and colorful pieces and enjoys continuous praise from Latin American critics. This artist is a true romantic who describes his work as “his imagination flourishing in art.” Exhibition Dates: March 1 – March 31, 2008 Opening Reception: March 12, 2008, 6 – 8 p.m. Denise Robergé Gallery 73-995 El Paseo, Palm Desert, CA 92260 (760) 340-5045 Fax (760) 340-9522 More Information - Websites, Maps and Directions
