Witty and articulate, designer Steven Reed Love clearly has those “renaissance” qualities that have rapidly propelled him from one accomplishment to the next. A California native who was raised overseas, Love returned to the U.S. in his teens with a passion for architecture. While in design school, he apprenticed with noted Denver architect Robert Caudle, and was quickly elevated to the position of assistant senior designer. In 1990, after running his own design firm, Love established the first Egg & Dart showroom in Denver. Named after a classic Greco-Roman architectural motif, the 15,000-square-foot Egg & Dart multi-line showroom has evolved into one of Colorado’s premier design emporiums.

A new Palm Desert outpost of Egg & Dart is Love’s latest achievement. Located on Cook Street in the local builder’s wholesale corridor, the stunning design center opened in July 2006 and is fast becoming a popular venue for the design community. Showcasing Love’s expert design sensibilities, which he defines as “classic, timeless, inspirational and innovative,” Egg & Dart offers an eclectic assortment of high-end furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, lighting, and accessories.

Featuring 70,000+ fabrics on display, local interior designers no longer need to travel to Los Angeles or San Diego to shop in a first-class design facility. Egg & Dart exclusively represents several of the country’s leading textile manufacturers including Kravet, Lee Jofa, Groundworks, GP&J Baker, Mulberry Home, and The Barbara Barry Collection for Kravet. The showroom also features an assortment of tile, marble, and mosaics, as well as artistic hand woven rugs from Tufenkian, a leading supplier of Tibetan and Armenian carpets.

Egg & Dart clients will also find uniquely designed, expertly crafted custom fine furniture and lighting catering to the elegant ambiance of Tuscan, Mediterranean, and English-inspired architecture. “Many of our lines, such as New Classics Creations, Old World Antique Reproductions, and Hancock & Moore, produce handmade products with European craftsmanship that is incredible,” says Love. Moreover, versatile styles, grains, and finishes are available from Broesche, Fremarc Designs, Martin Pierce Furnishings, Taracea, Kravet Furniture, and other premier manufacturers. Egg & Dart also plans to carry a major new lighting line that Kravet is introducing later this year.

To complement desert lifestyle trends, including an affinity for exterior living spaces, Egg & Dart offers a wide array of outdoor umbrella and textile lines encompassing a variety of solids, patterns, and hues. Exterior designer collections include Kravet Soleil, Lee Jofa Solarium, Santa Barbara Designs, Talenti, and Whitecraft.

Love fulfilled yet another design aspiration when he introduced Egg & Dart leather collection in 2003 to designers across the nation.
