Trilussa Ristorante, a Roman-style Italian restaurant in Pickfair Promenade, is named for a modern-day poet whose Trilussa Ristorante opened in the 1940s and is still operating in the same piazza in downtown Rome. With its soaring ceilings, art deco glass screens, Venetian artwork, and French doors opening onto a patio, the desert version of Trilussa possesses all the delicious possibilities as the Roman one.
A wood-burning oven produces thin-crust pizzas. Soups, salads, bruschetta, and antipasti set the stage for nearly a dozen pastas and risotto dishes, as well as main courses of
chicken, steak, veal, and fish.
Owners are Giuliano Gallo and Sam Pace. The chef is Salvatore Zavada, whose son Sal Jr. is the maitre ’d. Romanic Italian songs and Sinatra favorites are performed Wednesday through Sunday by pianist and vocalist Renato Di Roma in the piano bar lounge.
