The nonprofit FGI promotes education in fashion and fashion-related businesses through scholarships, internships, and career counseling.

On Dec. 2, Desert Cancer Foundations' Gift of Life Gala goes On Safari. The evening consists of epicurean dining and a fine-wine auction at Parker Palm Springs. Proceeds help pay for cancer treatment of patients who need insurance or money for their medical care. The foundation works with the support of local healthcare professionals who provide services to its clients at a greatly reduced cost.

An Affair to Remember
The Alzheimer’s Association hosts its eighth annual Memories Gala and third edition of the gala’s association with The Judy Fund on Nov. 12 at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage. Proceeds support local services for families struggling with the disease, as well as research programs, including the planned diagnostic and research center at Eisenhower Medical Center. The association is the world leader in Alzheimer’s research and support, having awarded more than $150 million to nearly 1,300 projects for Alzheimer’s disease research.

Something in the Air
Enjoy “Thunder Over the Desert” at the third annual Jacqueline Cochran Air Show on Nov. 4 at Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport in Thermal.
