Celeste Amaya, MD, APC, brings a refreshingly out-of-the-box approach to patient diagnosis and treatment. Her unique concierge practice combines internal medicine with mindfulness-based medicine, including non-invasive Meridian Access Therapy (MAT). With an emphasis on disease prevention, general well being, anti aging and longevity, Dr. Amaya’s reputation for results has been generating buzz and transforming lives.

Q: What makes MAT unique?

Dr. Amaya:
I am the only board-certified physician in the Coachella Valley using the non-surgical, non-invasive Meridian Access approach in conjunction with traditional medicine to achieve significantly higher symptom improvement and cure rates pertaining to pain, fatigue, fibromyalgia, migraines, stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, weight gain, and weight loss, compared to using traditional medicine methods alone.

Q: What led you to explore MAT?

Dr. Amaya: Over time, I noticed that many patients who presented with chronic illness, pain or stress-related disorders were simply not improving. I started researching the role stress plays in illness and I took a cue from my Asian culture and began studying and training in the use of mind-body healing techniques.

Q: What’s the science behind MAT?

Dr. Amaya: According to Eastern medicine, to maintain the body’s health and ability to heal, the problems must be approached appreciating the body as a single unit with every physiological system interconnected. In other words, you can’t treat the symptoms without first addressing the true underlying cause.

Q: How is MAT performed?

Dr. Amaya: Meridian Therapy utilizes repetitive tapping motions and pressure with the fingertips on nine specific Meridian points on the head and body.

Q: Are there studies to support the use of MAT?

Dr. Amaya: Many studies have shown that negative emotions such as shame, guilt, grief, fear, anxiety, anger, hate, frustration, apathy, disappointment, sadness and regret, weaken the body’s immune system. Meridian helps release toxic emotions and puts an end to the cycle.

Q: What results have you seen?

Dr. Amaya: I’ve used it to help patients release and let go of negative emotions, which then diminishes or eliminates their pain, neuropathy, tremors, fatigue, insomnia, and whatever else compelled them to see their physician in the first place.

Q: How do you decide who is a candidate?

Dr. Amaya: I perform Meridian Therapy only after a complete medical review and examination. Meridian is always done in conjunction with standard medical treatment.
