Palm Springs Ranks Among Top 50 as Summer Honeymoon Destination

Palm Springs ranks among the top 50 summer honeymoon destinations, according to WalletHub.com, a website designed for consumers and small business owners to assist financial decisions.

Chicago was picked the No. 1 location followed by Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

The list was created starting with 100 domestic destinations based upon research. Thirteen key metrics were used overall broken down into three key areas: budget, weather conditions and activities and romanticism.

Included under budget were lowest price of a 4-star hotel; lowest price available for a standard rental car; sales tax rate, and prevalence of affordable 4.5+ star restaurants.

Weather conditions included metrics for the difference between the historical average temperature for Aug. 23 and ideal temperature; historical average precipitation for Aug. 23, and historical average humidity for Aug. 23.

The metrics for activities and romanticism included beach quality (oceans and lakes); number of bed and breakfasts per capita; percentage of romantic hotels; number of attractions; number of activities, and number of nightlife options.

Palm Springs ranked 36th under budget, 48th for weather and 42nd for activities & romanticism.

Among California cities, Los Angeles (3rd), San Diego (9th), San Francisco (19th), Santa Barbara (37th) and Santa Monica (38th) ranked above Palm Springs.
