SilverRock Resort is promoting healthy living with a “Walk the Rock” golf program allowing golfers to walk and play golf daily starting at 3 p.m. Players are also encouraged to cycle to the course and enjoy the café’s new healthy menu options.

“Once here, SilverRock is a great place to relax on the outdoor patio and take in views of the surrounding Santa Rosa Mountains,” said Randy Duncan, director of golf. “Our menu at SilverRock Cafe features fresh, never frozen meats and organic green salads. We’re also offering a selection of smoothies made with heart healthy items.”

Formerly the home course of the Bob Hope Classic (2008-2011), SilverRock’s challenging course sprawls more than 200 acres with massive native bunkers and stunning water features set against the backdrop of the majestic Santa Rosa Mountains.

The course opened in 2005 and quickly garnered prestigious awards including: Top Ten New Courses You Can Play in America, Golf Magazine, 2005; Rated  No. 1 in the Palm Springs Area, Greenskeeper.org; Best Tour Courses You Can Play, Golfweek Magazine, 2009, 2010, 2011; Best Municipal Golf Courses, Golfweek Magazine, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012; America’s Top Golf Courses, Zagat, 2008, 2009, 2010,  2011, 2012;  and  Best of the Best, Public Golf Courses, Palm Springs Life, 2012.

The clubhouse, situated in the rocky outcroppings, is a charming renovation of the former working ranch hacienda built by Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ahmanson of Home Savings & Loan renown. Housed within the clubhouse is the SilverRock Grill, with a beautiful outdoor patio and awe inspiring mountain views. The restaurant serves breakfast (all day) and lunch selections from a newly updated menu.

Resort amenities include golf carts equipped with complimentary GPS systems providing instant yardages; one of the Valley’s largest all grass driving ranges; and PGA instruction.

SilverRock Resort is owned by the City of La Quinta and is managed by Landmark Golf Management. Planning is underway for expansion to 36 holes of championship golf, a world-class practice center, retail venues, luxury boutique hotels and more.

Cost for “Walk the Rock” is: La Quinta residents with valid resident cards $20; Juniors (under the age of 17) $10; Non La Quinta Residents $40.
