The Fix’s Winning Mix

El Paseo dessert house has fans faithfully flocking

“We’re definitely getting a lot of the L.A. urban crowd,” Quinn says, adding that the average age of her clientele lies somewhere between 28 and 38. “But we have locals, too. They’re really coming from everywhere.”

The faithful are flocking for a myriad of reasons, among them 1800 square feet of fun that includes high ceilings, exposed brick, and a concrete floor. Ample seating accommodates the hungry, and a full bar satisfies the thirsty.

“What we were looking to do was make it more of a dessert house,” Quinn says.  “There are so many restaurants in the desert. We want them to go to dinner somewhere and then come here afterwards.”

Quinn points to The Fix’s distinctive mix as the main attraction. “People can get drinks without hanging out at a bar and can have food and dessert without being at a restaurant,” she says. Her father cultivated her sweet tooth by suggesting she eat dessert first lest she not have enough room in her stomach to finish it after supper.

Also on the menu: expert advice on how to pair wine, spirited coffees, and even artisan beer with Quinn’s favorite part of any meal — dessert.
