Gilda’s Club Desert Cities attracted more than 200 women to its first Old Bag luncheon, held at La Quinta Country Club, a unique event concept inaugurated 17 years ago in Palm Beach, Florida, that featured a silent auction of vintage handbags. Thanks to chairman Donna Dunn’s work, guests were able to spend the first part of the afternoon perusing and bidding on 200 handbags with names like, Prada, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Hermès, Tod’s, Mark Cross, and Bottega Veneta.

Once guests were seated for the luncheon, a fashion show from Grayse and The Jewelry Bar kept the focus on fashion alive. Glenn Thomas, Saks Fifth Avenue’s personal shopper, presented his “retale” stories that divulged some of the dressing room scenarios he has encountered in the last 30 years. Thomas mentioned that some of his tales had to be edited because a few of the main characters were actually attending the luncheon.

The event honored Gayle Hodges, a longtime supporter of Gilda’s Club Desert Cities, who spearheaded a major fundraising campaign for the beautiful new kitchen at Gilda’s Club known as Chuck’s Wagon.
