OSCAR NIGHT
A Look at the Academy Awards

Producer'/Director Robert Kline will show feature clips highlighting the nominated films. Dress in black and white and enjoy free popcorn. Starts at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at Cinemas Palme D'or in Palm Desert.

Purple Room
Watch the Oscars with Miss Judy, complete with a Purple carpet walk starting at 4:30 p.m. March 2. Six-course dinner. Proceeds benefit AIDS Assistance Program.

Trio Restaurant
There will be an Orange Carpet, Bella da Ball, good food and drinks, and of course, the telecast itself starting at 4:30 p.m. March 2. Proceeds benefit AIDS Assistance Program.

FILM
"Southern Baptist Sissies"

Director Del Shores (Sordid Lives) will make an appearance along with some cast members Feb. 28 for the second weekend screening at Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs. The film was actually shot before a live audience and the cast includes Leslie Jordan and several others from Sordid Lives fame.

"White Lies"
The Desert Film Society presents a film about a medicine women who is approached by a wealthy woman who seeks her knowledge and assistance in order to hide a secret March 1 at Camelot Theatres in Palm Springs.

FAIRS, FESTIVALS
Ask the Rabbi – Palm Springs Street Fair

If you have ever walked Palm Canyon Drive during this weekly Thursday night street fair, perhaps you've seen the small table and sign that prompts, Ask the Rabbi. Rabbi Yonason Denebeim has been answering questions for more than 25 years. Watch our VIDEO to see a day-in-the-life of Rabbi Denebeim on a typical Thursday night.

 

College of the Desert
Not to be outdone, College of the Desert's Palm Desert campus is the site of its own Street Fair from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays through May.

Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival
Runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 1 at the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument Visitor Center. Free admission and parking with shuttles from St. Margaret's Church in Palm Desert. Activities include artists, exhibitors, interpretive hikes, kids fun, music in the beer and wine garden and workshops.

Canada Fest 2014
The second annual event, Feb. 28 to March 1 at the Renaissance Esmeralda in Indian Wells, joins forces with Financial Fest where patrons can hear money tips from Gary Kaltbaum and Moe Ansari. Also hear seminar topics on Travel and Leisure, Health and Wellness, Arts and Handicrafts.

ART
Coachella Valley Watercolor Society

The 24th annual members' show and sale, featuring works like Marilyn Blitz's "Unlimited Shrimp", will take place indoors (in case it rains) Feb. 28 and March 1 at the Classic Club in Palm Desert.

Desert Arts Festival
Set to run March 1-2 at Frances Stevens Park at Palm Canyon Drive and Alejo Road in downtown Palm Springs, patrons can see the work of 100 artists from paintings to photography to sculptures in clay, glass, metal, stone and wood.

Tulip Hill Winery
Artist Diana Ahrens will sign her artwork featuring new pieces March 1 at Tulip Hill Winery at The River in Rancho Mirage.

THEATER
"The 39 Steps
"
This two-time Tony and Drama Desk award winner is presented by Coyote StageWorks starting Feb.. 28 to March 9 at the Palm Springs Art Museum's Annenberg Theater. This Hitchcock-like masterpiece includes Monty Python-like humor and more than 150 characters.

"Hello Dolly"
You may still remember her from the 1970s TV classic, "All in the Family", but Sally Struthers shows her versatility in playing Dolly Feb. 28 to March 2 at McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert.

AVTT Traveling Wal

The AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall, the largest replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall, will take residence at the Palm Springs Air Museum Feb. 27 to March 2.

Milt Jones
The man who created Palm Springs Life magazine more than 50 years ago is honored by the American Advertising Federation Palm Springs-Desert Cities chapter Feb. 28 at The Show at Agua Caliente.

Walk to End Alzheimer's

Pat Kaplan of Palm Desert and Edie Keller of Rancho Mirage are honorary co-chairs of the 15th annual walk March 1 at Palm Desert Civic Center Park. The 2-mile route starts at 10:30 a.m. with on-site registration beginning at 9 a.m.

Patrick Warburton's Celebrity Golf Tournament

Winewomen PSP Wine Dinner
