Thirty-two years ago, when Dr. Scott Aaronson opened his cosmetic surgery practice in Palm Springs, few others in his field were practicing here.
“There has since been tremendous population growth and, as a result, we’ve had more and more plastic surgeons moving to the Coachella Valley,” he says.
To keep pace, and also provide a safe, comfortable environment for his patients, Aaronson opened 6,000-square-foot surgical center across the street from Desert Regional Medical Center. Here, he caters to all of his patients’ needs: face lifts, brow lifts, eyelids, nose procedures, and otoplasty, which corrects deformations of the outer ear.
“We also specialize in breast surgery — breast lifts, enlargement, and reduction — and body contouring, which consists of tummy tucks and liposuction.”
While population growth brings a steady flow of new patients, most of which come through referrals, Aaronson and others who practice cosmetic surgery also see patients from Los Angeles, Orange County, the Bay Area, and Canada.
“They come in from those areas because this is [a] relaxing place and a great environment for healing,” he says. “You can look at a perfectly clear sky and see the beautiful palm trees and mountains. This is a great place to recover from a surgical procedure.”
Aaronson, who’s from Baltimore and trained in Miami, Irvine, and Houston, says the desert’s popularity creates boundless opportunity for medical professionals. “The environment here is fantastic.”
