Dr. Timothy Jochen goes to work every day with a crystal clear mission: Cure his clients’ skin diseases and make them look and feel beautiful. “I recently read somewhere, ‘Businesses are in the business of making the world a better place,’ ” he says. “Feeling beautiful is feeling confident, and that’s what we’re trying to deliver to the community: confidence.”
Dr. Jochen came to the Coachella Valley 16 years ago to launch Contour Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery Center in Rancho Mirage, a multifaceted practice specializing in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology as well as clinical research.
“It’s a place where if you have a skin cancer, for example, we’re as concerned about your cosmetic outcome as we are [about] making sure that you have a complete cure,” he says. “Even a rash, say psoriasis or eczema, can feel embarrassing to you. We’re concerned about making sure it’s completely clear so you feel comfortable and confident going out into the public.”
The decision to open Contour Dermatology turned out perfectly. Dr. Jochen’s practice started in a small office in Palm Springs in 2001. It doubled the size, and in late 2002 he opened a second office in Rancho Mirage. In 2010, he opened the flagship complex in Rancho Mirage, which now has two buildings and room for future growth.
In 2017, Dr. Jochen will open an office on Jefferson Street in La Quinta to more conveniently serve East Valley residents. “The valley is a prime place for anybody with a solid vision who wants to make a difference in the community,” he says. “And it keeps getting busier and better every year.”
