When you work with an interior designer who’s been a fine artist his entire life, you’re likely to see your home outfitted with custom furniture and elements in every room. Troy Zimmerman, who works with clients in the desert, Los Angeles, Orange County, and out of state, considers himself lucky to have been able to pursue his passion of being a fine artist and interior designer, often integrating his sculpture into projects that require site-specific installations.

“For two decades, I’ve been designing sculpture for my clients instead of shopping for them,” says Zimmerman, whose work is also represented at Melissa Morgan Fine Art on Palm Desert’s tony El Paseo. “I’ve become an art junkie. I support and sell a lot of art from many artists and galleries around town. I love art in my work. I love living with it. And I love it every time one of my clients walks past a piece of art and loves it.”

Zimmerman, who was born and raised in Indio, adheres to the same philosophy with furniture. He designs custom pieces, fabricating them with top-quality materials, distinguishing his clients’ homes as he does his own practice. His designs reflect the desert’s architectural heritage, rooted in the modern vernacular.

“The architecture here lends itself to excellent design, “ Zimmerman says. “We work with our clients to create one-of-a-kind spaces that they can enjoy inside and outside, so they can really get into the Palm Springs lifestyle.”
