As one of five Tribal Council members of the Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians, Reid Milanovich is grateful every day.

“I am able to serve the tribe that has been there for me and provided great opportunities for me my entire life,” says Milanovich, son of the tribe’s late chairman, Richard. “Giving back to the tribe and its younger generation is so satisfying.”

It had always been in the back of his mind that this would be his path, according to the 30-year-old.

“Hard work is a great passion for me,” says Milanovich. “I don’t feel right not giving 100 percent of what I have.”

Milanovich, one of six siblings, treasures the closeness of his family and enjoys the beauty of the Indian Canyons when he is not traveling to work on tribal issues across the country or meeting with lawmakers in Sacramento or Washington, D.C.

“I am in a position to see the tribe prosper and grow,” says Milanovich. “Where the tribe goes, I go.”
