Anyone trained to understand the etiology of disease and determine how to mitigate its spread has had an especially crucial job lately. Cummings, who holds a Ph.D. in epidemiology from UCLA and a master’s degree in public health from USC, fulfills that role at Eisenhower Health. She spends most days analyzing data to reveal trends. She loves it. “I wake up excited to go into the office.” Yet for all of her accomplishments, this So Cal native is proudest of being a mom. She also enjoys mentoring students and preparing them for a career.
