Ebony March Arts & Entertainment

Autumn in the desert, with its kaleidoscope of colors and textures, sets the stage for the season’s first art event. The 13th annual Rancho Mirage Art Affaire takes place Nov. 9-10 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and is open to all original art and select crafts. Here’s what you must experience:

An Affaire to Remember
1.
Approximately 8,000 patrons attend the Rancho Mirage Art Affaire each year. More than 100 fine artists — proficient in everything from glasswork and ceramics to woodwork and more — are showcased. Locals and visitors find its home at Whitewater Park scenic and inspirational.

More Than Meets the Eye
2.
The two-day event comes alive with fine food and music, including smooth jazz onstage Saturday and Sunday. Featured entertainers include R&B guitarist David Shyde, who performs Nov. 10, and Debora Galan, who dazzles Nov. 9. Wine lovers, clear your palates in preparation for a roster of sterling vintages to be savored at the wine and beer garden.

A Little Something for the Kids
3.
Bring your children to Rancho Mirage Art Affaire for fun with the Rad Hatter. The zany character will lead recycled art activities that enrich and entertain.
